I had the pleasure to watch all interns grow and be successful
in the professional work environment."

"One of my interns in particular showed great leadership, communication, and time management skills throughout the internship program. His name is Greg Naranjo, he started and completed his internship with the City of Espanola in the water department. His site supervisors had nothing but great things to say about Greg and how much they enjoyed him as their intern."

Cassandra Cruz, Coordinator
HELP New Mexico- Rio Arriba County
" I wanted to share my experience with you during the summer work program. I have never worked in a professional setting. I was born early and have been behind in my grade level. I am trying to catch up and learn the basic life necessities. I worked in an office setting and a hands on shop setting. I learned how to inventory heating and cooling materials and parts. I was able to communicate with customers. I learned what it takes to be on time and accountable. I really enjoyed being in the work setting. My supervisor was very understanding of my capabilities and pushed me to do a little more each time I attending work in a positive way. I was proud of myself because I earned money. Now when I go to the store and I want to get something I can pay for it myself and my parents cant tell me no. If these program are offered again please let me know so I can try and participate again."
Intern, Paula A.

"Many participants experienced their very first job with this NMPED program."

"Juan Carlos and McKayla, for example, were able see what it's like to give back to their community. The students also learned responsibility and many work skills that they will take with them in their future endeavors whether it's education or employment."
Crystal Sanchez, Coordinator, HELP New Mexico- Taos County

We had a student intern Izabella come work with us in General Service/Emergency Management. Although it was tedious work she help us destroy old files and items that had not been eliminated in over ten years. She also organized items we found that we had no idea we had around. She also help find a flash drive with old, but very important Emergency Management information. Her group also helped us digitize our blueprints for the department and the city Planning department. All in all these young students helped us in ways they may not realize, we are humbled and grateful for the opportunity they were offered and the services they provided. "
Jeff Sargent Emergency Management/General Services Director
